House of Israel, Inc.

  • Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
  • This year has had its share of challenges for sure. However, God has been faithful and is still good no matter what. The ministry is thriving and doing well. We have had the opportunity to share the love and message of Jesus with people all through out our community and beyond. God has provided numerous open doors to bring hope and healing to an overwhelming amount of hurting and broken people. There is need all around us and what better time of year to notice that than this season? God "gave" His one and only Son so that we may have life. He made the biggest and most generous sacrifice for you and for me. So, will you consider being generous with your finances this season to honor the celebration of our Savior? You can do so by partnering with us today to help heal and restore broken families through out our community. It's easy: Go here: http://houseofisraelinc.org/donate/
Also, consider this a formal invitation to our annual Jubilee Celebration that will be held on December 14 at 6pm at The Carpenters Church. Hope to see you there.
"In this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35
Thank you in advance for your support both prayerfully and/or financially. No gift is too small and no prayer is in vain. Your partnership will help us to continue to bring the message of hope and life that will ultimately keep our children safe and see generational curses broken which in turn will make our world a much better place to live. May God continue to show you favor in all that you do.

Be about it

Over the course of my lifetime I have heard hundreds of sermons preached and sat in many church services and yet I cannot remember what any pastor said that radically began to change my life. But I can remember what my Pastor did. He believed in me when no one else did. He saw something in me before anyone else could. He gave me opportunities that no one else would. He called the greatness out of me when others were degrading me. And because of that I have never been the same. He took the time to not just talk about Jesus but to show me who Jesus is. Because of that, over the years i have learned to love Jesus and aim to show Jesus to people just like my pastor did during that season of my life.

This is why House of Israel exists today.  We desire to demonstrate the love and grace of Jesus in ways that will compel others to surrender their lives to Him. We believe in others when no one else does. We look for things that no one else sees.  We desire to give opportunities to people that no one else will.  We aim to call the greatness out of people when the world has written them off.  Our motto is "Don't just talk about it but be about it."

If you or someone you know needs help, we would be honored to come alongside of them to help them through this journey of life. Blessings and peace to you today.

Challenge: Who needs to see Jesus in you? Who can you encourage? Don't just talk about it. Be about it!!!

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22

LOVE

(This was a previous post that failed to upload months ago. Better late than never.)

God has really blessed my heart today. In the type of ministry that I do, I see a lot more failures than I do successes. It appears that Satan wins in people’s lives way more than I would like for him too. But, so far today, God has seen fit to encourage me greatly by allowing me to witness family restoration, life transformation, and healing at work through 4 different individuals. I am so excited to have the privilege to witness God’s hand at work in very real and powerful ways on behalf of individuals that could be and in some cases have been regarded as hopeless, helpless, and worthless. He is showing me so much about His GRACE, His MERCY, and His LOVE as He does what only He can do in the lives of others. It is amazing how simply loving someone can open up the door for God to begin to perform the miraculous. I am beginning to understand why Love is the greatest of all His commandments. Love does draw people to Jesus. Seeing people cross over from death to life, overcome and rise above their addictions and sin, and receive healing from past wounds will never get old. I will continue fighting and pressing forward in order that others may encounter, experience, and walk in God’s love, peace, joy, and freedom. Would anyone like to join me?

Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

Resolution Ceremony #3

October 30, 2012

Two more ladies committing to becoming the mother's God has called and created them to be. I love moments like this.

2012 Highlights

God has been so good to us this year. He has given us an amazing platform to share the hope and love of Jesus with hundreds of people throughout this past year. It has been so much fun watching God move and work in people's lives and humbling that He allows me to be a part of it. Thank you to all those who serve, give, and pray for this ministry. 2013 is going to blow our minds!!!

2012 Highlights include:

• Sharing hope and encouragement with over 325 youth through various speaking engagements at local Middle and High Schools, Church youth groups, and to youth involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice.
• Bringing hope to 8 hurting and lonely ladies on Valentine’s by modeling love and sharing the Gospel.
• Rescuing 2 ladies off of the streets, helping them pursue sobriety.
• Serving over 40 youth at our first week long Victory Sports Camp, where we taught them how to move from Victims to Victors. Seeing 3 kids accept Christ as their personal Savior.
• Providing emergency relief services to a 19 year old young man who lacked housing, employment, money, and support. Within weeks, he had stable housing, food stamps, employment, a healthy network of support, an opportunity to finish school, and reconnected with his mother.
• Celebrating 13 individuals resolve to become the parents God has called them to be as a result of our 16-week parenting course.
• Helping at least 7 families remain intact through our support and outreach services.
• Assisting in the reunification and restoration of 4 families.

All glory and honor goes to God for the great and mighty things that only He can do!

(If HOI was a highlight in your life this year, please feel free to post a testimony on our facebook page.)

Get Up!

Teresa B. and I sought out to provide hope to and rescue someone from their darkness today.  We set out with confidence knowing God had a specific assignment for us.  The place where we headed is a heavily oppressed place.  Every time that I have attempted to go visit this particular lady, I was unable to and knew not to get out of my car.  I had determined that if the spiritual heaviness was there again today that we would keep on driving. Upon arriving at our destination, miraculously everything was calm, peaceful and still.  I was able to get out of my car and walk in between 2 pit bulls that are normally barking at and attacking anyone that approaches the property.  To my great relief and astonishment the dogs didn’t flinch other than to lick my toes.  I stood on the porch hoping someone would come to the door. However, there was no answer. Disappointed, we drove away seeking other opportunities to encourage and love on someone.  We went all over Anderson to the impoverished and needy areas and yet, found not one single person.   Before calling it a day in complete discouragement, I decided to go back where we started.  After all, we were both confident “this” was the assignment for us today.  To our great pleasure, she was home. PTL! What a powerful and awesome time we had talking to, encouraging and loving on her.  I love watching God so relentlessly pursue those that everyone thinks are too far gone to ever be reached.

Lesson 1:  Maybe you need to turn around and go back to where you started.   When you sense God is telling you to do something, don’t lose hope or give up prematurely.  Sometimes it just takes a little more time for God to pave and prepare the way.  In our case today, it only took an hour of waiting, seeking and persisting.  In most cases, God is saying just hold on.  Don’t stop doing what he has told you to do, just wait on his perfect timing.  Don’t give up, lose hope, or get distracted in the meantime.

Lesson 2:  Don’t ever underestimate the significance of “getting up and going” exactly where God leads you even when that means being inconvenienced, interrupted and uncomfortable.  In not following through with his leading, you miss out on the most amazing and transformational experiences of your life.

Lesson 3:  When the Lord told Philip in Acts 8:26 to “Get up and go”, his reaction was not of rationalization, complaining, griping, or resistance.  Even though what God asked him to do was totally irrational, untimely, and inconveniencing to Philip.  Instead, Philip’s response was to “run” towards his assignment.  As a result, someone received Christ that day.  Who do you need to run towards today? God has given each one of us an assignment. Will you obey or will you miss the opportunity to be used by God in life-giving, miraculous ways? I challenge and encourage you to GET UP, put on your running shoes and watch what God does in and through you to shatter the darkness and hopelessness in your family, neighborhood, workplace and community.

HOI's Theme Passage

2 Corinthians 4 (The Message)

1-2Since God has so generously let us in on what he is doing, we're not about to throw up our hands and walk off the job just because we run into occasional hard times. We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don't maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don't twist God's Word to suit ourselves. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God.
3-4If our Message is obscure to anyone, it's not because we're holding back in any way. No, it's because these other people are looking or going the wrong way and refuse to give it serious attention. All they have eyes for is the fashionable god of darkness. They think he can give them what they want, and that they won't have to bother believing a Truth they can't see. They're stone-blind to the dayspring brightness of the Message that shines with Christ, who gives us the best picture of God we'll ever get.
5-6Remember, our Message is not about ourselves; we're proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus for you. It started when God said, "Light up the darkness!" and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful.
7-12If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us. As it is, there's not much chance of that. You know for yourselves that we're not much to look at. We've been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we're not demoralized; we're not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we've been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn't left our side; we've been thrown down, but we haven't broken. What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! Our lives are at constant risk for Jesus' sake, which makes Jesus' life all the more evident in us. While we're going through the worst, you're getting in on the best!
13-15We're not keeping this quiet, not on your life. Just like the psalmist who wrote, "I believed it, so I said it," we say what we believe. And what we believe is that the One who raised up the Master Jesus will just as certainly raise us up with you, alive. Every detail works to your advantage and to God's glory: more and more grace, more and more people, more and more praise!
16-18So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever.

Resolution Ceremony #2

So proud of these individuals. Another powerful day (8.25.12) celebrating God's amazing grace and life transformation. Thank you, Marci Sloan and Robby Meredith, for being such faithful leaders.

"One morning about eight months ago I woke up very depressed, I wished my life could be different. The most hopeless feeling I think I had ever had came over me. I sat on the side of my bed holding my baby and began to pray to God to change my life. I didnt care how I just knew that I couldnt go on the way I was living. I prayed...I begged...I cried....I completly fell apart. A few hours later I recieved a phone call, it was DSS. Someone had called and reported that there was domestic Violence going on between me and my sons father. My heart fell to my feet and I started to freak out. I had never been so scared or so angry in my life. I was angry at myself I was angry at who ever called and mostly I was angry with God. I couldnt believe that he would let something like this happen,I had just begged him to help me not to make my life worse. Even though I didnt know it then, that phone call would change alot of things for all of us.

We were referred to Empowering Families who referred us to HOI. When parenting classes started I felt like it was something I had to do not something I wanted to do. As the weeks went on I found myself enjoying the class and actually looked forward to the next time we would meet. I started to realize that having a chance to learn about myself was a blessing and not a punishment. I have a bad habit of always thinking about the things that have happened in the past, things that I cant change. I realize now how important it is to let those things go and just enjoy the good things in life like my children and family, because at the end of the day thats what really makes life worth living, thats what makes life good. God has given me two awesome gifts and a third on the way. I know that god did hear me and my prayer was answered that day.

I am ready to make this resolution: I am committed to becoming the mother God has called me to be and when you ask who will be acountable to God from this day forward....I WILL."

Participant Testimony

Sitting here in the living room floor of my house, I was just reflecting on what this journey has looked like and enjoying a cup of coffee, too. My God says my past is forgotten and I believe truly it is, but for you to really understand what House of Israel means to me, you must know a little about me.

With no exaggeration, I have spent my whole life broken and searching for someone or something to fill me, fix me and make me whole, needless to say that brought my life to utter destruction, the loss of all family including my children, husband and almost all friends except a very select few who already knew our Lord, and saw something worth loving, in spite of all I was doing. My need to ease the pain at any cost found me in a prison cell, angry and as it was, I thought I was going to settle this thing once and for all with me and God. So, I asked the Chaplin for a Bible, and to my surprise, my God, my Lord, my Jesus, ended up being the one who settled it.

He had me where He wanted me, and all I had was time to listen and for the first time in 38 years, I did. He called me His and He told me “this my child is a fallen world and no one or nothing could or would ever fix me, save me, or fill this utter emptiness in the very depths of my soul but Him.”

And, let me tell you, in that very prison, I found a joy and a freedom that would have me singing out loud in front of strangers and was the most beautiful feeling I had ever felt in my life. Well, my stay there was only three months and the interesting thing for me is putting one foot in front of the other in faith that He would guide my steps… Well, He did. I met a friend of Tabitha’s, Kristie, who had shared her testimony with me and had said that maybe Tabitha could help me, with getting my family into this broken down house. Well, I must mention, upon meeting Tabitha and explaining who I was and what brought me to her, she absolutely wanted nothing to do with it. But she did; however, care about my heart and invited me to continue on in Bible study with her and the ladies. About three months into coming to class, getting to know her and Julie (who I am quite fond of also) she just up and says one day, “What exactly do you need to do to get these kids home?” I reminded her about the house in need of repair and had no idea what a down pour of Gods love was fixing to happen over the next few months.

With out turning this into a 500 page book, while my need for a home to be safe and live with my kids was so important, her love for God and the hearts of His people were far more important to her and what just seemed to be an “extreme make-over gone Christian” was actually the most amazing act of love I have ever felt in my life. We have had more strangers love us than we even know how to feel about.

My God truly lives in Tabitha’s heart and the ladies of House of Israel, and while they are quite amazing all by themselves, the resources and people and the Spirit my God gives them to utilize are far greater than anyone could ever imagine! It is truly miracles that unfold before your very eyes. I have seen it in my life and the lives of others. I could write all day to tell you how HOI has helped me along the way but still more words could never tell you the whole story. It is definitely a “Had to be there experience.”

These people, these women, are my friends and mentors, but most of all, sisters in Christ! They truly show how to and make me love my Lord and Savior more with each and every passing day! I am forever grateful. -Rhonda (HOI Participant)
